Last week MassChallenge announced their 125 finalists that will be participating in the 2012 accelerator program, kicking off June 26th in Boston.
For those who are not familiar with MassChallenge (MC), here’s a little background: From March 1st until April 11th MC accepts applications from startups around the country and world, shortly after April 11th the judging period beings and lasts until May 2nd. At that time judges invite the 300 highest potential teams to pitch, the second judging period follows by narrowing down the field to the now 125 highest potential teams.
This is then followed by 3+ months of intensive mentoring and fine tuning of their company. By October, the final judging occurs and the top 10-20 teams are awarded one million dollars (to split) for funding along with enhance PR and privileged access to top investors.
“Many of these entrepreneurs are coming to Boston’s Innovation District from all over the world, and others have been creating ideas right here in Boston that will impact our city and far beyond,” said Mayor Thomas M. Menino. “We are happy to provide a home for this global collaboration and enthusiastically anticipate the growth of these young businesses.”
During this exciting time we just wanted to reach out and give our congratulations to all of the teams that have participated in MassChallenge this year. We look forward to seeing what these amazing teams will be bringing to the table in the coming months and years. We wish you all the best of luck and support for the busy months you have ahead of you!
