Intro to Cloud Computing [Video]
Posted on April 19, 2012It’s not always easy to first grasp the concept of cloud computing, or to even explain it to someone once you understand what’s going on. With all of different models, solutions, and projects that you can do on the cloud, it can get a little overwhelming.
But for now lets just focus on what cloud computing is, and how it works.
Right now your company is most likely using a dedicated server, a physical server usually stored in the office. When you want information you need to access your physical server from a specific location. It can be frustrating if you forget to email yourself a file, or check out certain papers, leaving you to either go back to the office or with unfinished work for the night.
With the cloud, you upload the file, storing it in the cloud. When you need to access it you log in with your passcode and grab the file- from anywhere, and on any device. That one file can be shared as many times as you need to, and to anyone you give access to.
